A year ago, we saw more than ever the deep longing inside men for adventure.
We decided to embark on one of our biggest adventures and take a film crew to capture our trip - one that has shaped us and hundreds of men over the years. Some brought baggage, defeat, addictions, fears and doubts - but one thing is certain: we all left with glory - we all left with fire. We didn't find our manhood in the mountains, that is something we already had. What we found was was our hearts - and that was everything we needed.
Henry David Thoreau famously stated in that “the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.” - We just couldn't be those men.
For the past 35 years, Jeff Voth has led his sons and other groups of men on an annual backpacking trip into the Colorado Rocky Mountains. This trip has become a legendary, masculine benchmark. Learning life-skills, trout fishing, extreme physical fatigue and the sharing of deep heart-felt secrets in a sometimes beautiful, sometimes terrifying alpine backdrop has etched this event indelibly into these men's lives. They would each tell you that they have been forever changed ... that they have been forged into a deeper and healthier masculine place ... that they have become better men because of "The Trip".
What makes a man great is not necessarily his ability to overcome - but his willingness to persevere.
Adventure can take on many shapes and forms - but for us, it meant getting out into the unknown and conquering the wild. We believe men can learn essential survival skills and life lessons from the wilderness - but more importantly, it can irreversibly change your outlook on life - forever. This is a life changing journey for every man.
